There were previous discussions (1, 2, 3, 4) that led to removing the link automatically added to the artist name parameter, but apparently it was replaced with a hidden autolink that has the same problems, e.g. linking to disambiguation pages or to the wrong person entirely. This came to my attention regarding Statue of Jackie Robinson (Wichita, Kansas) with its hidden link to the John Parsons disambiguation page where the non-notable artist isn't listed. Coincidentally, this also happens with Statue of Jackie Robinson (Jersey City) with its hidden link to Susan Wagner who isn't an artist. Can this autolinking be removed once and for all? -- Pemilligan (talk) 23:24, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dimensions imperial vs. metric

[edit]

It appears that this template always lists the metric dimensions first. This isn't always desirable; it'd be nice if the code could be improved so that artworks in weird imperial countries could give preference to the units most familiar there. Cheers, Sdkbtalk 04:44, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Why does this template add edit links (blue pencils) to some pieces of metadata but not others? And why does it even need the individual edit links when there is an "edit on Wikidata" link at the bottom. The blue pencils just seem like unneeded distraction. If someone needs to make a correction, they can just click the "edit on Wikidata" link. Nosferattus (talk) 04:03, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Thumperward: Curious to hear your thoughts. Nosferattus (talk) 04:05, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No idea, but if you can provide an example I'll see if I can have a look. It's probably wikidata magic that's got nothing to do with this template per se. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 10:53, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
